“Oke!” she panted a little, having to jog a bit just to keep up with Kid’s long strides, holding tightly to his hand lest she trips and gets left behind.
As Kid fiddled with the stable door locks, Sheeyon silently cheered excitedly upon hearing the noises and then spotting a creature as excited as her, looking over its stall door. “Is tha’ her, ‘Ku?” she pointed, tugging at him impatiently and then waving her arms over her head. “Yes yes! Hullo coco-bo! I’m Sheeyon!”
“Yep, this is b—Whoa!”
The second the door was unlatched, Blu shot forward to meet Sheeyon. Kid panicked, afraid the larger bird might accidentally step on her, and grabbed hold of one of her wings to try and slow her down.
Not that he needed to. The moment Blu was close enough, she lowered her head and rubbed it against Sheeyon’s belly. He knew his gesture, it was something Blu did when she wanted lots of love and attention.
“Heh, I think she wants a hug,” Kid chuckled.
At first, Sheeyon squeaked in fright, afraid that the creature was going to attack her. She shut her eyes and was about to cry when she felt something furry tickle her belly.
“Heh,” she heard Ku laugh casually, “I think she wants a hug.”
Sheeyon’s eyes fluttered open, and she gasped a little, even more surprised that Blu didn’t hurt her. A smile slowly made its way onto her lips as she realized this. And in a second, the child had her arms wrapped around the chocobo’s lowered head, giggling.
